MEET LADY MEL

LADY MELODY JONES-PACKNETT
As a fourth-generation member of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC), faith and ministry have been woven into the fabric of Melody Jones-Packnett's life from the very beginning. She serves along her husband Pastor Thuston Packnett II as First Lady at Redemption Ministries. Melody takes great joy in being an attentive and present mother, finding joy in both her family and her calling to serve God's people.
Melody's journey began on the Eastern Shores of Maryland, where she was raised in the church, but her path led her to New York to pursue her passion for fashion. Throughout this transition, her commitment to ministry never wavered. She has had the privilege of serving in worship through singing on the choir and praise team, mentoring young people, and leading liturgical dance ministry—a calling that has become central to her life's work.
Before joining Redemption, Melody served faithfully at Beth-El COGIC, where she was licensed as a missionary. Over the years, she has been honored to serve in various leadership capacities across all levels of ministry. Locally, she has served as church financial secretary, Missions Department President, children's Sunday school teacher, district youth leader, and sunshine band president. Regionally, she has led liturgical dance ministries, and jurisdictionally, she has served as Assistant Chairlady and dance ministry leader. On the national level, she has had the privilege of serving as Vice President of the International Youth Advisory Council, President of the youth department store, and as a member of Send Judah First Liturgical Dance ministry.
Melody has a passion for both home and foreign missions, as well as dance ministry. She has been blessed to travel to various countries, sharing dance ministry techniques, participating in foreign prison ministry, and spreading God's love through movement and worship. These experiences have deepened her understanding of how God's love transcends all boundaries and cultures.
Even in her current role, Melody remains honored to serve her former First Lady as one of her Administrators , and is a devoted staff member of Sister I Got Your Back inc. Most importantly Melody loves to laugh, travel, and spend precious time with her family, In addition to serving in ministry.
Melody's life is anchored in Psalm 46:1-2: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear" This scripture reminds her daily that no matter what challenges arise, God is always our source of strength and peace.
