Mother Ida M. Arbuthnot was born February 8, 1931 in Centreville, Mississippi to the late Superintendent James Cason, Sr. and Classria (Dennis) Cason. She was the seventh of ten children.
Mother Arbuthnot received her formal education in the Centreville school system. She met and married Elijah "Booster" Arbuthnot (deceased) in 1949 and to this union two children were born, Dorothy Jean (deceased) and Herman. In 1952, they relocated to Kansas City, MO.
She was employed as a Nurse Technician at North Kansas City Hospital and retired after 32 years of service.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Beulah Land Church of God In Christ in Centreville, Mississippi. After moving to Kansas City, she became a charter member of Holy Temple Church of God In Christ which had its origin in September 1959 under the leadership of the late Bishop C.N. Rucker. She served in many auxiliaries; one of which she was most noted for was Pastor's Aide Leader for over 40 years. Her service included, but was not limited to, State Y.P.W.W. (Young People's Willing Workers) Chairlady of the Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Missouri; as well as District Missionary of the Progressive District; Missouri Western First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.
In December 2002 she became a charter member of the Redemption Church of God In Christ, founded by her nephew,
Pastor Thuston L. Packnett Sr. Her ministry continued to flourish as she served as a Missionary on the Mother's board and Advisor to the Women's Department.
It was shown to all who knew her in word and deed to keep our faith in God and He will see us through any situation. She was favored by God all of her life and was proud, yet humbled to say "I'm saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost!" She would always remind us that she was a "Royal Child." Mother Arbuthnot will be missed but not forgotten.
Live saved, and you will see Mother Arbuthnot again!
